MORE INFORMATION TO COME!!!

In 2007,  STRIDE  partnered with Down Syndrome Resource Center,   Albany Autism Society, and Hudson Valley Community College, for "THE I CAN RIDE" Bike Camp. A bike camp specifically designed to teach children with special needs how to ride a two wheel bike.

We are proud to say that 80% of the participants in this years unique program successfully learned how to ride a two-wheel bike.

Check pictures from the 2006 Bike Camp!

"Lose the Training Wheels", a traveling bike camp came to us to provide two five-day camps of bike riding in a very unusual format.  The Rainbow Trainers' brought a fleet of adaptive bikes, specifically designed to ensure success for all riders.

We are so impressed with the technology and success behind this program.  The educational philosophy and the adaptive technology of the equipment parallel the advances that have been made in the sport of skiing.  Even more impressive is the statistical evidence of the success rate in populations such as kids with autism or down syndrome.

In 2008, Once again, Hudson Valley Community College will host the 1st week of our camps,in air conditioned comfort. Union College will be the site of the 2nd week. Each week,  40 participants lose the training wheels and learn to ride a 2 wheel bike.

If you are interested in having your child participate in the 2008  bike camp, a current STRIDE application must be on file. Please call the STRIDE office at 518-598-1279 with questions.

All registrations will be handled in a first-come, first-served manner.  Due to the limited number of spaces we regret that reservations will not be held without full payment in advance.  Scholarships are available through STRIDE.  Direct Impact Grants are available to campers with Down syndrome from Down Syndrome Aim High & campers with autism at the Albany Chapter of the Autism Society.  Information on financial assistance through STRIDE can be found on-line at www.stride.org or by phone at (518)598-1279; or Down Syndrome Aim High on-line at www.aim-high.org or by phone at (518)448-6687, or Albany Autism Society at: www.albanyautism.org or by phone at (518)355-2191.
