There are so many ways that you can contribute to STRIDE, and some you may not have thought of before. Financial contributions and time contributions are paramount to our success; however, here are some other ideas that may match your lifestyle and you can still be a supporter.

Give a gift for our auctions or raffle
This can be something that you already own and has value; such as an autographed collectible; an antique; a craft item that you make such as quilts, baskets or pottery. This can also be something that you get from a business owner such as a gift or service gift certificate from your hairdresser, restaurant or business owner. Auction forms are available from STRIDE office.

Corporate sponsorship
STRIDE is trying to align itself with Capital District corporations who would like to become a participant on their level to sponsor certain STRIDE events for more community exposure. Check with management in your community corporations as to whether they would be interested in becoming a sponsor. Call the STRIDE office with contact information.

Donate a service
his could be something that helps us through your talents, such as legal advise, printing services, graphic design, or photography. Does your employer allow you certain privileges, such as free goods? Could STRIDE benefit from this. Send an email with your ideas.

Memorial contributions
Oftentimes, when a loved one passes away unexpectedly, it is difficult to plan. Remember that a financial gift to STRIDE in lieu of flowers is one that will continue giving long after the flowers fade. Newspapers will print the address for contributions to be made. STRIDE sends confirmation thank you notes and a list of all the donors to the family of the deceased.

Employee Matching Gifts
Many corporations offer matching financial gifts to support the volunteer or financial efforts of their employees. Companies such as Verizon offer $500 for any employee donating community volunteer hours. Check with your employer to see what your company offers.

SEFA or United Way donation
STRIDE is a designated beneficiary #1976 of the State Employee’s Federated Appeal of United Way. If you are a member of a NYS agency, you may designate a dollar amount from each paycheck to go directly to STRIDE through the United Way campaign. One dollar per paycheck is hardly noticed by you, but collectively equates to a significant contribution to STRIDE. Approximately 80% of your dollar goes directly to STRIDE.

Designate STRIDE in your will
Everyone should have a will, but have you considered bequeathing any of your assets to your favorite charity? Check with your attorney for the details on this 100% tax-free donation.

To Honor a Loved One
Have you ever been perplexed by what to give that certain person who seems to have everything, yet a special occasion gift is in order? How about a financial gift to STRIDE in their honor? STRIDE would be pleased to send a special occasion card with a message of how you honored them.

Host a Party to Honor STRIDE
Your own mini-fund-raiser in your home is a great way to get others to know about STRIDE as well as supporting us. Consider a dinner party, pool party, or special event party in which an “admission fee” is charged with proceeds going to STRIDE. Call our office for brochures and logo items.
