Do you like contests?
STRIDE Adaptive Sports is hosting a ski weekend in February for fifteen Soldiers and Marines who have been permanently injured in the War on Terrorism. Some of these injuries are physical ones like broken bones, burns and head traumas while others are injuries that are sustained with the stress of war. We would like to invite any student in grade 5 or higher to welcome our Soldiers and Marines to the Albany area with an essay writing contest. The winner of this contest will be invited to attend our Welcome Ceremony on Friday February 29th as a VIP with his/her guest or parent.
The essay guidelines are as follows:
Question:
“Soldiers and Marines pledge ‘selfless service’ when they commit to the military. How has this pledge impacted your life and/or the lives of your community members in a positive way? What could we as community members do to support them?”
